As of recent, researchers are taking quite an interest in probiotic strains and their effects on human microbiome and ultimately health. The World Health Organization defines probiotics as “live organisms which when administered in adequate amounts confer a health benefit to the host”.
Probiotics can kill pathogens by positively stimulating the immune system, balancing the gut microbes by secreting or inhibiting certain chemokines and supporting the inhibition of pathogens.
